Materials
Sündermann exclusively uses C - Type for his artwork, created through chromogenic photo development. A process that uses light exposure to evoke the organic allure of 1980's analogue film. The result is a picture made of natural pixels and vivid colours that embrace the tactile nostalgia of pre-digital artistry.
Early Life and Education
Born in Tiel, Netherlands, Sündermann studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, later completing a Master of Fine Arts in Directing. He received a prestigious film scholarship from the production company behind the Oscar winning film The Revenant. Following his MFA, he joined The Directors Bureau and American Zoetrope in Los Angeles, working under the guidance of the Coppola family (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Lost in Translation). Since, he has developed over 180 projects internationally. This foundation in cinematic storytelling continues to inform his practice, where each artwork holds the weight of a film scene.
Personal Life
Sündermann lives and works between Amsterdam and Palma de Mallorca. Known among close collaborators as "Sunny," he remains engaged in an ongoing dialogue between image-making and narrative, expanding the language of contemporary art.
